You're in the right place if you want to scare yourself silly with some of the best horror games ever made. There are a lot of very scary video games out there to try, whether you want to lose sleep because you're afraid of what's hiding in the dark or you just want to laugh because you're scared.

Resident Evil is one of the first games I remember playing, and spending late nights with my dad watching horror movies has given me a soft spot for the horror genre as a whole. I've also learned that I don't like to be scared, but I really like how well-made horror games can make you feel so many things at once. I also like monsters and aliens, which is why horror games, in particular, are the best: they can combine all of these things in a fun, interactive way.

So, with that in mind, here are some of the best horror games of all time that you can still play today, in no particular order. They range from recent award winners to games that aren't as well known.

Capcom made the games.
I can't pick just one Resident Evil game for this list, so I'll talk about a few of them for different reasons.Resident Evil and Resident Evil 2 are still well-known horror games, and the remakes of each helped make their great architecture and endless gore even more famous while staying true to the original games. The first Resident Evil game and the one that came after it are considered to be some of the first survival horror games. Resident Evil was one of the first games to be scary.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is the third contender I need to mention. I can't even begin to explain how good it felt to get through Biohazard for the first time. Since Resident Evil 5 and 6 were less than impressive, Biohazard feels new and is absolutely terrifying.

Resident Evil 7 was Capcom's way of saying, "You want horror? Here's horror,' he said, and he sent a new character, Ethan, on an adventure that feels like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre meets The Shining. It's scary from the start to the end, especially when Jack and his family are after you.
