As we embark on a six-month regular season and hopefully have baseball to watch well-beyond September in Cleveland, here are a few suggestions that Tribe fans might want to keep in mind this season.1. Don't expect Edwin Encarnacion to hit eight homers in April. It's true that Edwin is one of the best power hitters in the game, but what some people may overlook is that when he was hitting his 35-40 homers per season in Toronto, his home ballpark had a roof for cold weather. Anyone who's been to a decent amount of Indians games in April knows how it can make for quite a few low-scoring games. Whereas Rogers Centre in Toronto was manufactured to be a hitter's park regardle s Trevon Diggs Jersey of the temperature outside, the ballpark on the corner of Carnegie and Ontario is not conducive to the longball early in the season. The good news is that when the weather does heat up, there's a big old porch in left field with Edwin's name written all over it. The wall in front of the left field bleachers is practically daring Encarnacion to send airborne baseballs to John Adams on the drum. Not since the days of Manny Ramirez and Albert Belle have the Indians po se sed the right handed hitting power comparable to Encarnacion. If he gets out to a slow start in April, don't panic. We really don't know much about how he'll react to playing home games off the shores of Lake Erie. On the off chance that he goes into a slump, there will always be the one guy calling into a sports talk radio show after a couple weeks saying: "What a waste of money. What a bust." Don't be that guy. In late-May, June, July, August and September, bring your glove if you're sitting anywhere between the right field foul pole and Quicken Loans Arena.2. Last season was magical. Don't compare this year's team to 2016. This is a new chapter. There were so many awesome storylines in 2016. Juan Uribe helping Jose Ramirez grow into a mature Major Leaguer - on and off the field. Rajai Davis leading the American League in Dak Prescott Jersey stolen bases, with a solid 10-year gap between him and the rest of the pack. Mike Napoli. Do we really need any further explanation? Tyler Naquin's emergence after a breakout Spring Training... The Inside-The-Park Walk Off. The 14-game win-streak. Let's be clear once and for all. Those types of storylines are gone. Ramirez is no longer the unproven Cinderella story. He's not sneaking up on anybody. The Parties at Napoli's are over. The Tribe upgraded to one of the best power hitters in the game and fans will get used to his parrot as the season goes on. Naquin is no longer just a feel good story about a fan favorite rookie. If he doesn't produce, his job is certainly up for grabs in a crowded outfield. And let's remind everyone that last Dallas Cowboys Accessories year's 14-game win-streak is the longest in franchise history. The previous record streak occurred in 1951 - 65 years prior. Don't take this the wrong way, but we may never see an Indians' win-streak as impre sive as what we saw in June of 2016. And that's OK. 2016 was an amazing year. Enjoy this one for what it is. Brantley's back! Carrasco is taking the mound on Opening Day! If that's not enough to get you excited for Indians baseball, something's wrong with you.Scroll to Continue3. The Hunter has become the Hunted. Don't expect anyone to sleep on the Tribe this time. Along with having a magical 2016 season, part of the theme of the year involved the Cleveland Indians as underdogs. Every national outlet picked the Boston Red Sox to eliminate the Tribe in the ALDS. Even local writers (understandably so) had their doubts due to injuries. After the Tribe decided to make it their busine s to prove every doubter wrong last Fall, ownership and the front office continued to defy the narrative that these would be the same old Cleveland Indians in the Winter. As a result, national media and pundits are all on board. How will the Tribe respond to the newfound respect? Complacency would be the last thing to expect out of a team who still smells the champagne from November that never made it into their clubhouse. But some teams tend to thrive on being underestimated. Last year's team sure did. We have yet to see how this group will handle all that comes with being the reigning American League Champs with the target on their backs.4. A.L. Central Landscape Changing. Anticipate a different dynamic in the Midwest. Although Detroit didn't lose much in terms of key players, the division as a whole looks a bit different. Chris Sale is gone. The allure and shine of the Royals has worn off. The Twins aren't just a bunch of young kids this year. On paper, there's an argument to be made that the A.L. Central is weaker today than it appeared at this time one year ago. However, if there's one thing we know about baseball, the league dynamic is ever-changing. Do we really expect the Indians to absolutely dominate Detroit every time they play like what happened last year? The odds are against it. But like any other team in baseball, if you take care of busine s in your division, you are Micah Parsons Jersey in the driver's seat. The same way Cleveland beat up on Detroit all last year, the Twins made a habit of causing Tribe fans to scratch their heads. Look for both of those outliers to even out a bit this season. Something to keep in mind is that the White Sox may very well have more pieces to sell off in June/July. Jose Quintana, David Robertson, and maybe even Jose Abreu could be up for auction to strip the team down in the rebuild proce s. Theoretically, that should help the Indians, but it also would play a factor for teams like Kansas City, Detroit and even Minnesota. Down the stretch, if it's a close race, it won't be a surprise if some of Emmitt Smith Jersey those teams who happen to meet up with the White Sox in August/September seem like they're catching Chicago at a convenient time.5. Enjoy Being Defending American League Champions We know that anything le s than a World Series would be disappointing, but don't forget, it took 19 years just to get that American League Pennant back to the Land. In the mid-90's, fans went into every season EXPECTING a trip to the World Series. They still only came away with two and lost both times. Let's cherish this accomplishment for what it is. There are millions of variables that can take place and when all is said and done, it's entirely po sible this team does not meet expectations. Don't lose sight of how fun it's going to be to see the team you love travel from city to city as defending AL Champs. It's not an opportunity we get to experience too often around here.
