Can we say that vaping is a safer alternative to smoking? How do we know that?

Is there evidence that any vaporizer or vape e-liquid is safe? This blog post provides the answers to these questions and outlines 10 ways to reduce the negative health effects of vaping.

Starting Innokin in 2011 with a focus on assisting smokers and their loved ones has been central to our work since day one. In 2020, we have both solid scientific evidence and government backing showing that using electronic cigarettes is safer than using traditional cigarettes.

As opposed to smoking, vaping is 95% less harmful, but why does the UK's Royal College of Physicians say this?

Considering the reduced carcinogen load, Public Health England has declared e-cigarettes to be "95% safer" than traditional cigarettes.

Because of the evidence showing their efficacy in helping smokers quit, Public Health England (PHE) has repeatedly advocated for the use of electronic cigarettes by the British government and the general public.

ii Why are e-cigarettes safer than traditional cigarettes? Unlike regular tobacco cigarettes, these ones actually work. Cigarette smoke contains tar and thousands of toxic chemicals from the burning tobacco leaf. Properly used electronic cigarettes don't produce combustion, and studies have shown that they release significantly fewer chemicals in much lower concentrations than traditional cigarettes.

In 2015, we decided to investigate for ourselves whether or not electronic cigarettes pose fewer health risks than traditional cigarettes. To perform analytical testing on our Endura T18 kit, Innokin collaborated with the independent American laboratory Enthalpy Analytical. We asked the lab to examine T18s under standard operating conditions and determine how much of a number of metals and toxins (including the aldehydes formaldehyde, acetaldehyde, and acrolein) are present in the vapour.

When tested, it was clear that the levels of aldehydes and metals were significantly lower than those found in cigarette smoke and also significantly lower than the exposure limits for these chemicals outlined by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

Penn State chemistry professor Kurt Kistler conducted an independent study with Enthalpy Analytical and found significantly fewer toxins in the vapour from five different devices compared to cigarette smokeiii.

I don't get it; why does this matter?

More than eight million lives are lost annually due to tobacco use. More than 7 million of these deaths can be attributed to smoking itself, while another 1.2 million can be attributed to passive smoking. Nicotine is fatal. Many of us here at Innokin have kicked the habit, and we all know someone whose life was cut tragically short because they chose to smoke. Vaping technology, in our opinion, has the potential to save the lives of millions of people around the world and alleviate a great deal of suffering for their families. Every year, the Innokin team designs and manufactures better and more efficient vaporizer kits.

Does anyone know if there are any electronic cigarettes that are safer than others?

When the tank of the vaporizer can be removed and refilled with e-liquid, we call it a "open system" vaporizer. Vaporizers, tanks, vape coils master, and e-liquids are all components of the broader "open system." In order to reduce potential side effects, it is crucial to use a vaporizer correctly and select a safe kit and liquid.
