Peacocks are stunningly attractive and regal-looking birds, and their eye-catching plumage of blue, purple, green, and gold feathers makes them hard to miss. It is not surprising that when we produce crafts, we often desire to duplicate them.

Make peacocks out of handprints with children in preschool and elementary school; experiment with building peacocks out of paper plates with children in middle school; and add even more sophistication to your crafts by making a peacock out of paper fans with older children.

There is a good chance that you already have most of the supplies that you need at home to do any of these projects, so get started on your crafts right now!

Cut out the shape of your hand that you drew on a sheet of construction paper, using your hand as a guide. If you want to get a head start on preparing the supplies for this activity, you may start by tracing your hand onto construction paper many times, one for each peacock rangoli design can be seen here.

When you are doing an activity with children, you should either assist them in tracing their own hands or let them do it themselves. Next, take a pair of scissors and cut each hand out carefully. In order to maintain the peacock-themed colour scheme, you should choose paper that is either green, blue, or purple.

Always keep a tight eye on children while they are using scissors, and if the youngster is less than 4, you may want to consider purchasing child-resistant scissors.

The peacock's feathers are created by applying glue to colourful feathers and sticking them to the hand.Use anywhere from ten to fifteen feathers for each hand to make a spread that looks full and attractive.

Utilize various hues of blue, green, purple, and yellow to create a peacock that has a classic appearance. If, on the other hand, your objective is only to amuse yourself, you might choose whatever colours strike your fancy the most. Apply some glue to the back of each feather using a glue stick or white craft glue. Apply pressure to the hand that has been cut out, and continue doing so until all of the hands have been joined.

Your local craft shop likely has packs of beautiful feathers in a variety of sizes and colours that may be used for creating at very reasonable prices.

Using glue, secure the feathers to the palm of the hand in such a way that they fan outward from the base of the hand and continue along the fingers.

Paint may be used to give a popsicle stick the appearance of a peacock's body. Using washable tempura paint, colour one side of a popsicle stick in one of three different colours: green, blue, or purple. If you want your peacock to have more width, you may do this by glueing many sticks together and painting them all the same color.

If you don't have any popsicle sticks, spoons made of plastic or wood will work just as well in their place.

To complete the peacock's face, you may either use googly eyes or design your own eyes. If you have googly eyes, you may connect two of them towards the top of the popsicle stick to serve as the peacock's eyes. Then, using a marker, draw a "V" that is tilted to the side to serve as the peacock's beak.

In the event that you do not own googly eyes, you may just make eyes in their place by generating a series of tiny black circles. 

To give your project an even more one-of-a-kind look, you may consider drawing a pattern or design along the length of the popsicle stick. You may create feather-like patterns by making staggered rows of teardrop shapes and then drawing slanted lines all the way up and down the page.

Stick the Popsicle stick down in the centre of the feathers and position it so that it is centred. When you have the body of the peacock, place it so that its bottom is aligned with the bottom of the hand cutout.

Apply some glue to the back of the popsicle stick, and then push it firmly into the middle of the feathers so that it adheres there. You need to give your project some time to dry before you can hang it up or play with it.

Crafting with younger children couldn't be simpler than this activity. They are able to improve their hand-eye coordination and fine motor abilities with the use of this activity.

To make the background for the feathers, cut a paper plate in half using a pair of scissors. Because half of a paper plate is required for each peacock, you should cut out as many as necessary for your creative project.

Because you won't need to worry about concealing any type of ornamental backdrop while using white paper plates for this project, they are the best option to use.

Using plates of varying sizes might even allow you to create a family of peacocks. The smaller ones could be peacock chicks, while the larger ones might be peacock adults.
