Software Defined Radios is actually radio communications systems which are enabled by using software instead of hardware. With the advancement in technology and communications technologies, the radio calling has also undergone a paradigm change. As an example, a software defined radio, which operates on a particular frequency may be utilized to transmit on two distinct but nevertheless recognized frequencies. Or a program radio can support a broad band frequency while still allowing the transmission and reception on only certain stations. This is done by enabling multiple frequency channels to be obtained in the exact same time. The advantage of this is both different transmission sources can be controlled by a single origin. The main intention of a Software Defined Radio would be to allow multiple users to communicate without using additional hardware. It is also utilized in military software and telecommunication applications. In a way, a Software Defined Radio emulates a phone handset. The perfect world would not have any phone lines, and instead, everything will occur within the airwaves. However, the reality of our planet is quite different: there are still lines, even if the receiver is merely a computer.

To overcome this issue, Software Defined Radios (SDRs) was developed. SDRs operate by modifying the station frequency. Each software defined radio technologies has its own way of modulating the channel frequency. The target is to lower the needs of transceivers while maintaining good signal quality. This allows for a lot more channels to be used at the exact same time without interference from other nearby devices. Because the approach is transparent to the consumer, SDRs allow for a higher number of possible users at precisely the same time without sacrificing the quality of the transmitted signals.
