I Really Am Skipping It (Ironic, I Know) from Kin Gang's blog

They're like, not doing anything. Some artwork guy somewhere spent 15 minutes placing platitudes onto a black backdrop and Mut 21 coins they tweeted it out. I have seen a dozen of these already and it is about as easy as putting about the rainbow icons for pride. It's advertising in a catastrophe by trying to appear sympathetic. Maybe, but I think that it's something. Half the replies I saw Twitter were people freaking out about it.

But police brutality and NFL are two themes that have been fairly nicely intertwined with each other these last couple of years because of all of the protests. And there really are a decent quantity of soccer fans who don't"get it" (see Mike Pence, or spend more than 5 minutes with my conservative father in law), so even if it's just a trailer to get a ridiculous Madden game, I'll take it. Otherwise, perhaps it is going to piss them off, I am fine with this also, because fuck em. And they also could have achieved nothing. They could have waited a week or two for this to blow over and released it then. This way gets the message out there, even if they have absurd business motives, it is better than nothing. There is many businesses and lots of celebrities doing and saying nothing. I respect anybody who is speaking up.

They could have just quietly made no statement and sent hundreds of mails out to the media saying they had been delaying the afternoon they were officially releasing the trailer. Sure they can do more, but they definitely could do less. Maybe this paves the way for more large gaming companies making pseudo political statements? Majority of bigger announcements planned for this week when that somehow doesn't get a peaceful resolution within the next few days. Bringing any focus on the protests helps the protests. Does not matter if they're profiting from it. I could not have said it better. Who cares if they stand to gain off it... That I truly don't believe they will gain more than they simply didn't say anything. It's quite literally the absence of advertising. They're specifically not carrying their event/reveal.

It is advertising. Anything posted on a new social media is advertisements. In addition they aren't"not holding their event"; they are delaying it, and drawing attention to it using this tweet. To be fair, this is actually the first I have heard about the reveal. It's now on my radar as a result of this tweet, so it's still advertising. This isn't doing something though and quite frankly some people have had our intelligence insulted way too far with the slew of dumb fucking"we stand with Buy Madden 21 coins you via covid" advertisements by companies in recent months. These very same companies that are actively fucking over their employees during this outbreak. Like seriously, Amazon of fucking firms has a God damn covid ad with some asshole preaching about just how much the company is doing to safeguard it's workers which people who have followed recent events would know is complete fucking bullshit. It is a damn joke honestly.
