The next step following Plains of Eidolon, to me from Weismart's blog

Only improvements we will probably see is the new engine enhancing shadows, shadows, colors, particle effects and PSO2 Meseta projecting them against the outfits. You can take a look how exactly implementing better shadows and colors can enhance older equipment by checking ReShade screenshots. Collabs that have had their cosmetics removed still have their resources exist on the game so those will probably still be available for jp players. Only improvements we'll probably see is the brand new engine enhancing shadows, reflections, colors, particle effects and projecting them against the drapes. You may have a look how just implementing better shadows and colors can enhance older equipment by checking ReShade screenshots.

The next step following Plains of Eidolon, to me, personally would have been Dragon's Dogma Online's receptive fields.

SEA peep here. Not really play PSO2SEA but I did play with A LOT of matches in SEA release. Maintaining service by means of a localizer (distributor), but backslash of the distributor have the ability to alter the sport itself or ramble afar from the initial maintaining plan from mom firm (in this instance SEGA). Many games come and go only as a result of poor maintaining and being exploited. With Sream being something since quite a while (actually steam gradually became a very important factor in around PSO2SEA release, the rise of MOBA like Dota2 and LoL was something ), many issues of localizer were turned out, such as manipulating value (PSO2, when enemy dealt more dmg and assume to be) to unfair monetization (several, such as Garena in exchanging RP speed in local monies, and for PSO2 was outfit fragments and unite outfit). It all are a kind of managing and maintening the sport. Frankly, not much game stayed over 5-7 years with this kind of lack of honesty and non transparency of this localizers, and their approach back then (at least in my state ) was type of instant-ramen of purchasing permit, using it in few years for fast buck then discarding it. There are some poblishers/localizers did really good job, notably Mihoyo or even YoStar, but that is for cellular market and that is sort of later on with greater standard when players started caring about transparency and such.

Their fear is very legitimate, of buy Phantasy Star Online 2 Meseta contents being shifted too much like asian (SEA) release, but he does need to observe why why it failed in a wider perspective, not simply only PSO2's case. "We heard a great deal of players say they've been waiting eight long years for this release. [laughs] We were very happy about that."
