Introduction

The ovaries produce egg tissue, which is the basis of ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is now the fifth most prevalent source of cancer-related mortality in women in the United States, due to the presence of cancerous growths in the ovaries. However, the drop in ovarian cancer deaths in the United States over the last two decades has been significant.

In the United States, around 19,800 ovarian cancer cases will be diagnosed in 2022, according to the American Cancer Society (ACS). Around 12,810 people will die from ovarian cancer that year. 1.1% of women will receive an ovarian cancer diagnosis at some point in their lifetime. This article discusses how to recognise ovarian cancer symptoms and what to expect if a person is diagnosed.

Symptoms

The epithelium of the ovary is where most ovarian cancers begin. In the early stages, there may be few or no symptoms. However, if symptoms do occur they may resemble other conditions such as premenstrual syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, or a temporary bladder infection.

Early symptoms may include,

  • Unexpected vaginal bleeding
  • Pain in back or abdomen
  • Bloating
  • Feeling full while eating
  • Pressure or pain in pelvis
  • Constipation
  • More frequent urination

If any of these symptoms persist for more than 2 weeks, you should see or consult a doctor.

Few more symptoms may also be,

  • Weight loss
  • Appetite loss
  • Fatigue
  • Breathlessness
  • Indigestion
  • Nausea

Causes

When cells in this area of the body divide and multiply in very uncontrolled way then ovarian cancer develops.

Specific cause of ovarian cancer is still not clear, but experts finds some risk factors that may be include in causing ovarian cancer. These are follows,

  • Family history of breast and ovarian cancer
  • Never having children or having children later in life
  • Undergone any hormone replacement therapy
  • Being an older adult
  • History of breast cancer
  • Being overweight
  • Dietary factors
  • Having high level of male hormones or androgens
  • Heavily using of talcum powder

Types

Healthcare experts categorize the types of ovarian cancer based on the type of cell where they form. There are three common types of cells,

  • Germ cells – which will become eggs for reproduction
  • Stromal cells – which release hormones and connect the structures of the ovaries
  • Epithelial cells – which occur in the lining of the surface of the ovary

Epithelial cells are the most frequent and the most advanced. They affect around 85–90% of people with ovarian cancer. Germ cells are typically harmless. Only in about 90% of cases that become cancerous do treatment succeed.

Treatments

The formulation of the DNA is halted with Kemocarb 150mg Injection, which consists of Carboplatin. It is used to modify the structure of the DNA and stop its production. The development of the tumor is halted.
